On Friday the 13th November 2009 our winery burnt to the ground. This tragedy could have been much worse, had it not been for the hard work of North Canterbury Volunteer Fire service. From the Ashes label is dedicated to them and all the people who helped The Crater Rim, RISE from the AshesIt is beautifully lifted and complex on the nose showing dark cherry, black tea, olive and toasted almond characters with hints of smoked game and dried herbs. The palate is juicy and wonderfully rounded, delivering attractive fruit intensity and silky texture, together with fine tannins and a lingering smooth finish.
